“Kasol is crowded, but Kalga changed the whole experience for me. Staying there felt peaceful, simple, and real — the kind of place where you don’t feel like leaving.”
— StayLocal Founder
Most people go to Kasol and stay there. I did too at first — but it felt crowded and noisy.
Then I moved to Kalga village, just a short distance away, and everything changed.
Kalga is quiet. No loud cafés, no rush — just wooden houses, apple trees, and mountain views.
I stayed there for 4 days, doing almost nothing — walking around, exploring nearby villages, and just relaxing.
Food was slightly expensive compared to cities, but worth it. One small homestay served chicken curry and rice — simple, but one of the best meals I had.
This place is not about doing things. It’s about slowing down and feeling the mountains.
Day by Day
Delhi → Kasol → Kalga
Overnight bus from Delhi to Kasol. From Kasol, took local transport to Barshaini and short hike/ride to Kalga village. Checked into homestay and relaxed.
Kalga village exploration
Walked around Kalga — explored forests, small trails, and nearby viewpoints. Completely peaceful day.
Kheerganga trek
Started early (7–8 AM) for Kheerganga trek (~12 km). Trail passes through forests, waterfalls, and small dhabas. Reached top by afternoon. Hot water spring experience.
Nearby villages — Tosh / Pulga
Explored nearby villages like Tosh and Pulga. Each has a different vibe — Tosh slightly lively, Pulga more quiet.
Return journey
Descended back to Barshaini → Kasol → overnight bus to Delhi.
